This week I had an incredible experience! I got the opportunity to perform for a half an hour at a local lds church and be the main event for a New Beginnings Program. I sang five songs, (four originals) talked about each, and at the end shared a message with the girls about believing in yourself.
Believing in yourself is a really difficult thing to do in this world. We are constantly surrounded by things that veinly portray how we should look, what we should wear, and who we should be. I have gained a confidence in myself. When I play my guitar, and write music, it helps me believe in myself more then anything. I told the girls at this gathering that they should each try and find something that helps them believe in themselves.
The other day I had the TV on, and a commercial came on for Covergirl. The girl was absolutely perfect. Her skin, make up, clothing, eyes, voice. Everything about her was just flawless. It really got me to thinking, that the outward appearence is not what makes us who we are. Who we are inside is really what counts, and we should focus on that.
"Its not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not." I don't know who came up with this quote, but I would like to thank them. So many times we get caught up in who we should be. The most important thing is who we are now, and who we can become.
