New Beginnings

This week I had an incredible experience! I got the opportunity to perform for a half an hour at a local lds church and be the main event for a New Beginnings Program. I sang five songs, (four originals) talked about each, and at the end shared a message with the girls about believing in yourself.
Believing in yourself is a really difficult thing to do in this world. We are constantly surrounded by things that veinly portray how we should look, what we should wear, and who we should be. I have gained a confidence in myself. When I play my guitar, and write music, it helps me believe in myself more then anything. I told the girls at this gathering that they should each try and find something that helps them believe in themselves.
The other day I had the TV on, and a commercial came on for Covergirl. The girl was absolutely perfect. Her skin, make up, clothing, eyes, voice. Everything about her was just flawless. It really got me to thinking, that the outward appearence is not what makes us who we are. Who we are inside is really what counts, and we should focus on that.
"Its not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not." I don't know who came up with this quote, but I would like to thank them. So many times we get caught up in who we should be. The most important thing is who we are now, and who we can become.

  1. Hey Ellee: I just found you today online reading the Deseret News. I listened to some of your music and I just wanted to quickly tell you what a great job I thought you were doing. I have been writing and producing music ever since my college days at BYU and I'm still trying to learn how to do it. You have a wonderful natural talent for song writing but I also think your voice is wonderful as well. I live in West Virginia, but my wife is from Pleasant Grove and I have a daughter living in Idaho Falls who also likes to sing and tried the American Idol thing several times but was never picked. We don't get out to Utah very often but I would love to see you sing sometime. I just wanted to say hello and wish you all the best in your future. I have a good friend that is in Nashville and he is the vice president of ASCAP. His name is Ralph Murphy and I bet he would love to hear your music. If you would want me to, I would let him know about you. My email is taylor777@frontier.com. I am a retired music teacher and I am running my 10 year old business where I supply elderly folks with alert buttons and home security systems but I still like to get into my studio and write music. My problem has always been trying to get out of my head what I hear and it sounds like you've over come that obsticle. By the time I get to my studio and try to pound it out on the piano it's usually gone or I can't feel the same feeling that I originally had with it.
Anyway, take care and keep doing what you're doing girl and I know your dreams will come true. It's so important to stay close to your Heavenly Father in prayer as I know you must know. Don't get caught up with the things of the world cause the music business is full of them.

    Sincerely
